Custom Wedding Album Design

I’m excited to share with you one of my custom wedding album designs.  I love creating albums for clients.  It a wonderful way to sum up the experience and present the lucky couple with a beautiful keepsake.  You will often hear me refer to my albums as a storybook because I like to think they tell the story of your wedding day!

My album company of choice is Renaissance Albums.  They are located in New York and I absolutely love them.  They offer amazing products and I can’t wait to try them all.

The album below is Renaissance’s custom SoHo Book and was create for the wonderful couple, Dan & Michelle.  I photographed their wedding last June at the Vail Wedding Deck in Vail, Colorado.  To view the original post form their wedding, please click here.

Mountainside Lodge Wedding: Liz + Eddie

I am blessed to live in a place that attracts so many people to have a destination wedding in Colorado.  It’s a beautiful state that offers hundreds of amazing wedding venues and I can’t wait to photograph them all.  One of my favorite places to photograph is Estes Park, so I was beyond thrilled when Liz contacted me to photograph her destination wedding at the Mountainside Lodge.

I woke up the morning of Liz & Eddie’s wedding and checked the weather forecast to discover a 60% chance of afternoon showers.  I was a little worried that their outdoor ceremony might get rained out.  When I arrived at the wedding venue, I could see a nasty rainstorm a few miles away.  The question was would the storm stay to the north of us.

Liz had decided to have their formals taken before the ceremony.  So, we spent the hour beforehand photographing the wedding party.  In one of the shots with Liz and her sister, I caught an amazing lighting strike in the distance.  It was awesome!

As the minutes turned into an hour, I anxiously watch the storm approach us.  Fortunately for Liz & Eddie, they were able to make it through most of their ceremony before the rain started to come down.  One of the bridesmaids was kind enough to hold an umbrella over Liz & Eddie as they said their I do’s!  It turned out to be one of my favorite images of the entire season.

Congratulations to Liz & Eddie!  You have a kind spirit and I had a wonderful time photographing your wedding.  I want to wish you all the best and a lifetime of happiness.

Thank you to my great friend, Susan Forkos, for 2nd shooting with me.

Senior Portraits: Lacy Cooney

I had the pleasure of shooting my 1st Senior Portrait session with the fabulous Lacy Cooney.  We had a great time bouncing around Gilpin County while taking advantage of the last of fall colors.  Thanks Lacy for having fun with me!

Breckenridge Colorado Wedding: Keeley + Jon

I met Keeley & Jon last year at the local coffee shop to talk about their wedding plans at a private residence near the summit of Hoosier Pass in Breckenridge.  I was very excited, for I absolutely love shooting at new locations.  As I sipped on my delicious toffee nut latte, we talked about their ideal day, how they met, and the romantic story of how Jon proposed to Keeley.

The proposal happened over Thanksgiving weekend.  Keeley had asked Jon to fly home with her for a family visit.  Jon was unable to attend; at least that is what Keeley thought.  The morning of Keeley’s flight Jon dropped her off at the airport after saying goodbye.  Jon then parked the car and snuck into the airport to board the same flight as Keeley.  Jon knew he needed help boarding the plane without Keeley’s knowledge, so he asked for assistance from the flight crew.  Together they were able to get him on and off the plane without Keeley ever suspecting what was going to happen next.  As Keeley existed the plane and walked into the terminal, she found Jon down on one knee waiting to ask her hand in marriage.  At that moment, my heart just melted and I welded up with tears.  As I listened to the rest of the story, I thought to myself how awesome my job is to hear such amazing stories.  It was by far the best proposal I have ever heard.

Thanks Keeley & Jon for sharing your story and life with me.  I had a blast photographing your wedding and wish you all the best with your life together.  Congratulations!

Chapel at Red Rocks Wedding: Anna + John

I feel extremely honored when a bridal couple chooses me to be their photographer without actually meeting me first.  For Anna & Jon, it was not an option for they lived overseas and would not be in the states until a couple of weeks before the wedding.  Although, I try to get to know the bridal couple over the phone, it’s never the same as when you meet them in person.  Nonetheless, it is always an exciting moment to meet them for the first time on their wedding day!

On July 4, 2009, I arrived at the The Chapel at Red Rocks with much anticipation.  I walked downstairs to the bridal suite to find Anna.  As I entered the room, I was pleasantly surprised by the calm demeanor by everyone in the room.  As I looked over, Anna greeted me with a big warm smile and I knew this was going to be a great day!

Anna & John had decided to see each other before the ceremony for the first look.  It is always a special moment and one of my favorites to photograph.  After the ceremony, we bounced around the Chapel taking pictures of just the 2 of them before heading to The Golden Hotel for the reception.  Before entering the reception hall to greet their guest, we were able to get some amazing shots along Clear Creek in downtown Golden.

I just love it when a bridal couple gives me enough time to photograph their first moments together as a married couple.  Best Wishes to Anna & John.

A special thanks to Susan Forkos for 2nd shooting with me and the lovely Kathy with The Chapel at Red Rocks.

Pines at Genesee Wedding: Valerie + Ryan

I moved to Colorado 8 years ago this month.  As much as I love the mountains and all the beauty Colorado has to offer, I miss the lush green foliage I grew up with in the south.  It seems every year we have about one solid month of green bless and then it turns brown the for the rest of the summer…. but not this year!! This summer has been wet and full of rain storms. Everything is green and full of life.  As much as I love all the rain, it does create concern for those bridal couples getting married at outdoor venues. I know because I was one of them 3 years ago.  My wedding was held at the top of Keystone Resort and I was constantly checking the weather leading up to the big day.  It can be a stressful time.

For Valerie & Ryan’s wedding, I felt like the bride all over again. I was constantly checking the weather forecast days before the wedding.  As suspected, the forecast called for 60% chance of rain for July 25, 2009. I woke up that morning to grey skies and showers. It rained for most of the day right up until 45 minutes before the ceremony.  It as if the skies parted just in time for Valerie & Ryan to say there I do’s!!  Then the rain and heavy fog settled back in for the night.  It was Amazing!  Below are just a few of my favorite pictures from there wedding day.

Congratulations to the Valerie & Ryan.  I’m thrilled to have been your photographer and photograph my 1st wedding at the Pines at Genesee.
